Nova Hospitality Corporate Pastry Chef in Austin, Texas

We are looking for a high-caliber, creative and motivated culinary professional! We are an engaging leadership team that requires high performance and commitment. This role is will oversee, guide and support our pastry programs and lead our stand alone bakery concept.

What To Expect

  • Plan and manage daily operations of the bakery

  • Create and guide pastry programs for all venues

  • Prepare pastries, desserts, confections, and more on a daily basis

  • Communicate with clients to get an understanding of what they want and make recommendations

  • Stay up-to-date on food trends and dietary restriction needs, such as gluten-free options

  • Communicates on a regular basis with key stakeholders regarding venue performance and operations

  • Challenged on a daily basis to raise the standard and influence others

  • Consistently engaged to take ownership of the bakery and ensure success

  • Participating in service by guiding, directing and observing teams

  • Ensures maintenance and cleanliness of restaurant with specific focus on departmental health department food standards, OSHA, Fire & Life Safety Regulations

  • Responsible for recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling and all aspects of performance management of team

  • Partners with FOH to ensure operational and service expectations are defined and delivered

  • Champion and adhere to all Company standards and policies

  • Conducts meaningful daily preshifts for all team members

  • Maintains team morale, addressing any and all issues with care and efficiency

    Pastry Chef Requirements

  • 5 years of Pastry Management

  • 2 years of Bakery or Hotel/Resort Production Experience

  • Proven experience and expertise in cake building, viennoiserie & pâtisserie

  • Certificate in culinary arts preferred but not required

  • Working knowledge of baking techniques

  • Proven ability to accurately calculate P&L and implement spending changes is required

  • Must have flexibility and be adaptable to all types of changes

  • Must be polished, professional, friendly, dynamic and able to multitask

  • Proven ability to coach and mentor

  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all types of business contacts

  • Superb organizational skills when working in a fast-paced environment
