Job duties:

As an OCFS Policy & Training Specialist you will play an important role in helping develop policy and training for OCFS. You will be responsible for determining the training needs of the organization and overseeing the development and delivery of OCFS-specific training, both internally and externally. Under the direction of the Policy and Training Program Manager you will be involved in workgroups to help develop , coordinate, implement, and modify OCFS program policies and procedures to meet the needs of children and families. Your duties will include the following tasks:

  • You will identify OCFS training needs by developing, issuing and evaluating training needs surveys and working with staff, supervisors, Program Administrators and Assistant Program Administrators, Regional Associate Directors , Associate Director and the OCFS Director.

  • You will partner with OCFS managers/staff and SETU staff to identify and communicate training opportunities to OCFS staff.

  • You will act with considerable autonomy in leading and coordinating training for the organization.

  • You will be expected to work independently on developing and delivering training and in assessing the organization’s training needs.

  • You will also be expected to write and present reports summarizing training program delivery, feedback on the quality of training and future training needs.

  • You will be in workgroups to services and, develop, and initiate policy and procedural changes related to OCFS programs and services, and improving the effectiveness of OCFS in communications of policies to staff and relevant stakeholders.

  • You will make recommendations for policy revisions based upon interactions with staff, providers, and stakeholders.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    In order to qualify, you must have eight (8) years combination of education and/or professional experience in social services.Preference will be given to those possessing a Social Work License (LSW or higher), active and in good standing.The background of well-qualified candidates will demonstrate expertise in the following areas:

  • A thorough knowledge of OCFS programs, policies, and processes.

  • The ability to research, analyze, and evaluate social services policies and services.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training programs to diverse audiences.

  • Knowledge of surveying, data collection, and interpretation methods and techniques.

  • Strong technical writing skills. (Please provide a technical writing sample).
