Accountant in Augusta, Maine

Pay: $31 per hour

Schedule: M-F Days

Assignment Length: Long-Term Contract

Duties:

• Maintaining accurate accounting records for revenues, expenditures, transfers, accounts payable and receivable, and inventory

• Verifying the accuracy, completeness, authorization, and coding of documents

• Reviewing financial transactions to ensure compliance with established policies

• Reconciling accounts, initiating corrective action when necessary, and suggesting process improvements

• Preparing financial reports and assisting in the creation of annual financial statements

• Forecasting cash flow, revenue estimates, and expenditure projections

• Monitoring budget balances, identifying areas of concern, and developing corrective actions

• Educating staff on accounting policies and procedures

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting

• A minimum of five years of experience in accounting

• Proficiency in government accounting standards and systems

• Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
