Emory Healthcare/Emory University VMware/Azure Cloud Engineer in Atlanta, Georgia

Overview

Emory Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled VMware/Azure Cloud Engineer to manage a vast enterprise VMware environment and optimize our Azure cloud infrastructure. This role requires extensive expertise in VMware virtualization, including SRM, Skyline, Aria (vRealize), as well as Azure IaaS services.

This position is Hybrid: Atlanta, GA - Candidates will be required to come on-site on an as needed basis, usually 1-2 times per week.

Description

Key Responsibilities:

VMware Environment:

  • Deploy, configure, and manage a large-scale VMware environment with over 8,000 VMs running Windows and Linux Operating Systems.

  • Implement and support VMware Skyline for proactive analytics and recommendations.

  • Utilize VMware Aria (vRealize) Suite for automated IT operations management, ensuring efficient performance, and high availability.

  • Expertise in vRealize Automation for streamlined cloud infrastructure provisioning.

  • Provide hardware implementation and support for Cisco UCS Environment.

  • Engineer virtualization solutions for large enterprise applications; provide operational support.

  • Advanced knowledge of VMware SRM and at least one scripting language (PowerShell or Python).

  • Participate in weekend maintenance and On-Call rotations.

  • Perform VM creation, templates, snapshots, and VM backup; knowledge of Avamar and vROps is a plus.

  • Produce and maintain documentation for SOPs, configuration, and processes for vSphere versions 6x-8x.

Azure IaaS Environment:

  • Design and implement Azure cloud services with a focus on IaaS.

  • Manage Azure virtual networks, VMs, and storage solutions.

  • Ensure Azure environment security and compliance.

  • Implement automation and scripting using Azure CLI.

  • Perform performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimize efficiency.

  • Collaborate on cloud integration, migration projects, and disaster recovery planning.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management or related field. Seven years of operating systems analysis/administration experience OR nine years of operating systems analysis/administration experience without a degree.

  • Must be proficient in at least three operating systems used currently in production.

Preferred Skills:

  • Team Player

  • Extensive experience in VMware environments, including Skyline, Aria (vRealize)

  • Proven expertise in Azure IaaS.

  • Familiarity with Azure security practices and tools.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and team collaboration skills.

Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
