We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Transportation Engineering Services Benchmarking team as a Program Manager.

The Program Manager will play a critical role for defining process within the Transportation Execution team and benchmark the processes within the different business units globally. They will be responsible for defining Amazon values and technology with the best of lean management and six sigma to achieve excellence. The team will benchmark processes across Pre-Construction, Construction, Engineering, and Start up.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Utilize Lean Six Sigma based continuous improvement methodologies to engage teams to solve customer problems.

• Drive speed, quality, and simplification by eliminating rework loops, reducing and automating manual work and hand-offs, identifying and implementing best practices across the business, and minimizing process variability through standardization and automation.

• Ability to motivate others to achieve impeccable quality in an explosive growth and deadline-driven environment.

• Diagnose Amazon processes, identify improvement opportunities, prescribe improvement strategies, and guide the improvement effort.

• Responsible for leading and driving process improvements (short-term wins) as well as process design / redesign (long-term wins) efforts.

• Create global best practice documentation and facilitate sharing across the globe.

• Maintain close relationships with internal stakeholders and understanding our highest priority execution pain-points and opportunities, which will translate into benchmarking initiatives that improve processes, tools, and team capabilities.

• Provide feedback for engineering concepts, Request for Proposal development for Material Handling Equipment as well as Construction efforts.

• Manage vendors to follow Amazon expectations.

Key job responsibilities

Demonstrate high bias for action with strong ownership. Must be detail oriented but can move quickly to produce deliverables. Can deal with lack of established controls and navigate ambiguity. Effectively communicate to stakeholders and team members for KPIs and status of projects.

Must have a thorough understanding of construction cost processes and areas in which savings can be realized. Demonstrate ability to analyze construction costs on site and at program level. Demonstrate the ability to pull and process large sets of data that need scrubbing to ensure the data is clean, as well as the ability to produce important metrics and guide stakeholders with data.

A day in the life

Intake of BIM360 projects. Setting them up with CM guidance. Fielding data requests and escalations from stakeholders. Produce short turnaround data analysis with limited data.

About the team

The Construction Cost Management team works with construction managers and cross functional teams to ensure program-wide cost and data reporting compliance. The team establishes KPIs and deep dives cost trends for leadership, while identifying cost opportunities. When needed, we create tools and mechanisms to track and report on costs.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • 5+ years of construction cost management experience

  • 2+ years of data visualization and reports tools experience

  • 3+ years of data analysis experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $92,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
