Home Depot Media Experience Designer - Customer Workshops in Atlanta, Georgia

Position Purpose:

At The Home Depot, we help doers get more done. In order to do this, our Learning Design & Development team creates simple, relevant, and effective learning experiences for learners, and in this role, specifically for our external customers. We have a strong team of designers who are focused on the goal of development and education through customer workshops and we're looking to add to the team.

This Media Experience Designer will partner with the business and learning partners to create the overall look and feel of a wide range of interactive media assets for cutting-edge workshop programs that build competence and confidence in our customers. You will be part of a dynamic, collaborative team that creates learning solutions to build knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • You are passionate about media design and have a strong background with using industry-standard graphics and multimedia software packages to design and develop multimedia-based layouts, graphics, animation, video, sound, and/or content.

  • You have a track record of using innovative approaches to create media assets.

  • You have experience supporting the media creation for mobile and social learning projects , including interactive learning games.

  • You are self-driven , collaborative, resourceful, and excellent at project management.

  • You are comfortable taking risks , communicating new ideas to a variety of audiences, being a trusted consultant and partner, and propelling current thinking about media design to the next level.

  • You have strong communication skills and you're comfortable communicating through technology (Adobe Connect, Microsoft Teams, etc.) because this position works remotely part of the time.

50% - Use industry-standard graphics and multimedia software packages to design and develop multimedia-based layouts, graphics, animation, video, sound, and/or content for social, mobile, and game-based learning courses.

20% - Ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with required standards and conduct cross-platform testing with supported devices.

10% - Work with Instructional Designers to review and recommend design options, functionality, and programming needs.

10% - Work with standard software to create illustrations.

10% - Work on creative and innovative ways to design media.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use industry-standard graphics and multimedia software packages to design and develop multimedia-based layouts, graphics, animation, video, sound and/or content for social, mobile and game-based learning courses.

  • Ensures consistency, accuracy and compliance with required standards; conducts cross- platform testing with supported devices.

  • Creates illustrations.

  • Works with Learning team to review and recommend design options, functionality, and programming needs.

  • Position Reports to Manager of Learning Media Development

Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in related field preferred

  • Relevant work experience or expertise in a learning-related field

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Acrobat Pro, Audition, Media Encoder)

  • Experience in the conceptualization, design, and production of animation, graphics, and mobile-optimized materials

  • Experience in social media content creation

  • Experience with DSLR (photography and video recording)

  • Experience in a non-linear video and audio editing/production environment

  • Advanced video streaming and animation techniques

  • Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, color theory, layout and graphic design principles, and typography

  • Production of motion graphics and animation

  • Knowledge of UX/UI design

  • Knowledge of video editing software and ability to edit video and post-production

  • Ability to create illustrations

Minimum Education:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.
