The evolution of the Newell Brands Supply Chain includes a focus on driving productivity through building capability in people, processes, and technology. Planning, Engagement, Achievement & Knowledge (PEAK), Newell’s branded improvement strategy, is fundamental to that goal. A Center of Excellence with a deep competency in implementing PEAK PACS (Processes, Applications, Capabilities, and Systems) in Supply-Chain and Transactional settings is a crucial element in our future success. The candidate will work in a dynamic, fast-growing environment and assist in facilitation of the Continuous Improvement (CI) strategy and capability deployment in the Factories and Distribution Centers to support business imperatives through the effective deployment of PEAK systems, capabilities, and methodology. Achieve objective performance improvement results through capability building, coaching, and deployment of PEAK tools and systems. This role will focus on building capability in PEAK Foundations which is the start of the journey with a focus on establishing loss understanding, cascading reviews, master planning, basic problem solving, and the elements of GEMBA contained within our leader standard work system.

Position Overview:

  • The Associate Continuous Improvement Manager will be responsible for helping deploy PEAK systems across Newell’s Manufacturing and Distribution Network

  • The primary focus will initially be on coaching PEAK Foundation processes

  • This role will also support basic Productivity reporting tasks in support of Sr. Managers

  • There is an existing framework for this person to learn, utilize and coach (the sites)

Responsibilities:

  • Help sites establish Weekly and Daily Operations Reviews, effective Loss Analysis, basic root cause analysis (DMAIC), strong Master Plans, Leadership Gemba Walks, and basic KPI alignment

  • Coach sites to effectively implement PEAK as an Operating System

  • Ensure understanding of the differences between urgent and important work

  • Support site, regional, corporate Master Plan development and execution

  • Coach site leaders to align with the master plan in PEAK deployment

  • Lead sites in development & deployment of PEAK PACS tools and methods to drive business results

  • Support KPI alignment work across multiple levels of the site

  • Provide insight and ensure training for the development of a site-wide strategic implementation plan devised to meet the committed phase completion dates

  • Ensure that PEAK work is impacting both results, and more importantly the culture change through tracking of quantitative and qualitative success criteria

  • Ability to install an established operating system (PEAK)

  • Flexibility to coach both remotely and in person effectively

  • Build competency coaching outside of the initial PEAK Foundation systems

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with a Continuous Improvement methodology (TPM, Lean, Six Sigma) in both Manufacturing and Distribution environments

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business

  • Several examples of leading a large project and managing a timeline

  • Demonstrated experience leading a team (Directly or Indirectly)

  • Experience working in a factory and/or warehouse with automation and systems

  • Proven leader, team member and collaborator

  • Ability to travel up to 65% across the US & Mexico (Border Towns)

  • Preferred:

  • Spanish fluency

  • Heavier experience in the Distribution portion of Supply Chain
