Ohio University Adjunct Instructor of History, Beginning Academic Year 2024-2025 (POOL Posting) in Athens, Ohio

Job Description:

Ohio University Regional Campuses are seeking part-time instructors to teach in-person courses at the undergraduate level in history. The exact number of Instructors needed is undetermined at this time as it is primarily dependent upon enrollments and changing programmatic needs. When a need arises, the department will select qualified candidates from this pool.

Preference will be given to applicants who can teach in-person (face-to-face) sections of

HIST 1320 (Introduction to World History before 1750), HIST 1330 (Introduction to World History since 1750), HIST 1210 (Western Civilization: Antiquity to 1500), and HIST 2000 (Survey of United States History, 1600-1877).

Positions will include teaching from 3 credit hours to up to 11 credit hours per term. There may be future possibility for various delivery modes including in person/face-to-face, hybrid or via technology.

This is a part-time position eligible for sick leave and retirement benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in History or a related Humanities or Social Sciences content area at the time of application

At least 18 semester hours of graduate coursework in or related to the subject area to be taught.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in History and trained in the fields applicant intends to teach.

Experience teaching undergraduate courses.
