Linux Engineer

As a Linux Engineer at Blackspoke, you will develop technical solutions for managing networks, software, hardware configurations, and architectures. Your work will ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter.

What you will be working on: As the Linux Engineer, you will:

  • Develop technical solutions for managing networks, software, hardware configurations, and architectures.
  • Troubleshoot complex system hardware and software issues.
  • Train end users on the proper use of hardware and software.
  • Perform advanced software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Ensure workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions.
  • Lead efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and archive operations.
  • Conduct advanced audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Ensure that the performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users.
  • Evaluate existing systems and plan long-term strategies.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced professionals.
  • Familiarity with VMware and SAN management and concepts.
  • Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, ICMP, SSH, and SNMP.
  • Skilled in system administration tasks such as file system, network, and account troubleshooting.
  • Provision virtual and physical servers or workstations.
  • Administer systems using automation and scripting tools like CLI, Ansible, or various coding languages.
  • Knowledge of repository management practices, patch administration, and vulnerability remediation.

What you will bring to us (Must):

  • Technical training, certification(s), or a degree.
  • 5+ years of related experience as a Linux Administrator.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar relevant degree.

Would be nice if you bring the following (Highly Desired):

  • Security+ Certification.
  • Network+ Certification.
  • Linux+ Certification.
  • Additional Linux certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, and LPIC).
