The Senior Workplace Health and Safety Audit Manager is responsible for developing and implementing scalable audit strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements, risk identification and continuous improvement for the worldwide audit program. This leader is responsible for driving the performance, innovation and reliability of our WHS Audit teams. The position solves complex problems and proactively remove barriers in a fast-changing environment. Effective cross-team coordination, project management, and executive presentation skills are essential for success in this role. Collaboration and partnership with stakeholders at all levels of the organization are also crucial. This role works closely with these stakeholders to influence change and minimize risk across Amazon Business operations. Establishing and monitoring key performance metrics will be important in providing valuable insights and facilitating data-driven decision-making.

Role involves travel 30% locally and internationally.

Key job responsibilities

Support Worldwide WHS Audits strategic delivery by:

supporting the scope, team leadership and implementation of WHS Audits.

delivering the internal audit execution plan by participating in audits, leading audits and coaching internal auditors where needed.

recommending new WHS strategies/programs/technology that are relevant to audit and/or enhance existing strategy and lead from concept to delivery.

supporting the adoption of WHS strategy, and influence change across stakeholders.

driving the continuous improvement efforts and expansion of the audit program including training and peer audit strategic initiatives.

gathering, interpreting, and using complex data to develop actionable steps that will improve processes and optimize results.

providing trend analysis and recommending network areas for improvement that meet company and customer needs.

procuring and managing approved third party WHS auditors.

staying attuned to changing regulations and internal WHS performance to recommend changes to audit plans when required.

performing global trending of audit reports to identify common issues.

working with operations WHS partners and early intervention teams to recommend changes that address deficiencies.

A day in the life

The successful candidate will implement audit strategies, programs and protocols to support the global audit program. The Candidate will conduct audits, assess risks and recommend measures to enhance existing safety management systems. The individual will work with relevant stakeholders to address systematic and repeated compliance gaps, and support the adoption of WHS strategies, and influence change across stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Bachelor's Degree in occupational health and safety or a related field

  • 7+ years of occupational health and safety experience

  • 5+ years of audit experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree

  • Safety certification such as NEBOSH, CSP, ASP

  • Experience demonstrating a high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • The ability to collaborate with multiple interested parties with a variety of goals and objectives.

  • The ability to manage a high-volume workload.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
