MDW ASSOCIATES LLC Legislative Affairs Specialist in Arlington, Virginia

MDW Associates is seeking anadvanced Subject Matter Expert in Legislative Affairsto work with our government client in Arlington, VA.

The primary place of performance for all tasks is at Government facilities at the Mark Center at 4800 Mark Center Drive, Alexandria, VA, the Suffolk Building, 5611 Columbia Pike, Falls Church, VA, or the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. The COR may grant remote work on a case-by-case basis considering mission and availability requirements. All classified work is performed Onsite.The Acquisition Policy and Innovation (API) Directorate is an organization within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition and Sustainment) (OUSD(AandS)), the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Acquisition) (ASD(A)), and the Defense Pricing and Contracting Directorate. API is the OUSD(AandS) lead for enabling innovative acquisition approaches to deliver timely capabilities to the Warfighter.

Tasks Include:

  • In addition to legislative analyst support provide analytic support to Continuity Program Support Emergency Management Expertise.
  • Provide analytic support to OUSD(AandS) in the areas of continuity planning, training, exercise development and execution, strategy development, information fusion, readiness
  • reporting, facility staffing, crisis management support, and knowledge management.
  • Support the OUSD(AandS) Continuity Program Manager to ensure a comprehensive and integrated continuity program that enhances the integrity of the performance of essential functions and enables a more rapid and effective response to and recovery from a catastrophic emergency.
  • Provide expertise in implementing DoD Instruction 3020.42, "Defense Continuity Plan Development," and DoD Directive 3020.26, "Department of Defense Continuity Programs" and related WHS and OSD policies.
  • Must be physically and mentally/emotionally (no fear of flying/heights) able to occasionally fly via helicopter, including unassisted entry and exit of the aircraft while the blades are rotating and engine(s) running.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field, equivalent experience/certification in a field relevant to the specific position, or substantial equivalent occupational experience.
  • Executive level technical experience with 5 years or more of relevant experience.
  • 5 years or more supporting Legislative analysis at an Agency Headquarters level
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing an be able to deliver briefings professionally to Flag Officers, General Officers, and members of the Senior Executive Service
  • Defense or Federal Continuity Management Experience
  • Communicates effectively verbally and in writing
  • Able to effectively brief Flag Officers, General Officers, Senior Executive Service members;
  • At least two years' experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Explorer, Edge, SharePoint, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • Experience with CATMS, CHARRTS, GLADIS
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or higher in related field, equivalent experience/certification in a field relevant to the specific position, or substantial equivalent occupational experience.
