Summary

The Regional Director will oversee the overall performance and operational success of multiple areas within a region, including customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and achievement of profit, productivity, quality, and safety goals. This position will effectively manage the annual operating budget and maintain positive relations with customers and contractors, while driving growth and results.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for executing against financial and operational goals. Assesses organizational effectiveness in meeting these goals through the development, measurement, and reporting of operational KPIs (key performance indicators).

  • Provides timely, accurate, and complete reports of metrics and is responsible for regular communication to report on the effectiveness of the operation to promote strong execution, alignment, and accountability.

  • Translates company’s strategic priorities into short-term objectives for the region. Collaborates with functional departments to develop and implement short and long-range operational objectives, plans, budget, and forecast based on goals and objectives.

  • Manages business to achieve and/or exceed EBITDA targets established in the annual operating plan.

  • Assesses, analyzes, and interprets operational information and prioritizes multiple weights and measures to determine and justify appropriate resource allocation.

  • Identifies opportunities within the region and creates improvement action plans to address gaps through people, performance, and process improvements.

  • Drives change transformation and strategy execution to achieve specific business results. Institutes continuous improvement programs intended to support business growth and scalability.

  • Demonstrates the ability to balance operational effectiveness and employee satisfaction to drive profitability.

  • Implements, directs, and ensures compliance and alignment with all applicable federal and state regulatory requirements and laws as well as any Company policies, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Demonstrates strong business ethics when interacting with other managers, customers, vendors, and employees.

  • Builds and sustains solid trusted working relationships and teamwork. Uses influence to achieve goals; demonstrates both assertiveness and respect for others' priorities. Leverages on-going relationships with other regions and company business teams to include sharing best practices.

  • Understands the market and industry; has contacts with customers to ensure all internal and external processes and systems support the vision, mission, and position of the company as a market leader.

  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with local utilities, representatives of community, customers, and public interest groups.

  • Effectively coaches and mentors Area Managers within the region.

  • Partner effectively with Human Resources to maintain positive employee relations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years’ experience with demonstrated success in leading operations teams

  • 5+ years of successful P&L accountability

  • Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree in business preferred

  • Ability to travel 50% or more of the time around the state of Illinois with a few exceptions outside of Illinois

  • Background in service industries, ideally with utility or infrastructure-related fields. Familiarity with industry regulations and requirements

  • Knowledge of the regional market, customers, and its labor force

  • Proven success building and managing large scale, geographically diverse multi-unit businesses in a fast-paced and results driven environment

  • Must be able to drive improvement in operational efficiency, revenue, and margin

  • Successful at implementing systems, policies, and initiatives that drive solid business performance

  • Demonstrated competency in successful client retention and customer relationship building

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a great communicator who embraces partnering to achieve success

  • Ability to focus, align, and motivate region to deliver results

  • Superior critical thinking, strong analytical skills, and adept at using key data and reporting tools

  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across operational and functional departments

  • Effective, versatile, and action-oriented

  • Strong management and leadership skills with the ability to attract, develop, and retain talent at all levels

  • Individual must be comfortable with taking measured risks and be a catalyst for change

  • Excellent skills with MS Office Suite and various data analytical tools

  • Have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record

  • Willingness to travel
