Description:

Manager, Nurse Anesthetist supporting services in Ann Arbor and Livingston.

Responsible for providing leadership in the coordination of anesthesia services activities and the resolution of operational and patient care issues. Provides 24/7 accountability for patient care delivery. Responsible for day-to-day operations, scheduling, staff assignments, break and lunch relief plans for the anesthetist team. Participates in and supports patient care delivery each day. Collaborates with the department Chair, department director and Vice President, Surgical Services to achieve the departmental goals and objectives. Integrates decisions of committees into the operation and activities of the department. To provide anesthesia services for infant, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients across the health care continuum. To coordinate peri-operative patient care in collaboration with all members of the health care team to i provide optimal health.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads day to day operations of the CRNA and anesthesia tech teams. Collaborates with the daily charge CRNA at the Ann Arbor site to flex staff as needed due to volume changes. Oversees completion of the monthly schedule to meet CRNA and anesthesia tech staffing model requirements. Oversees completion of the yearly vacation schedule within the department PTO guidelines. Approves schedule changes. Facilitates planning for LOA coverage as needed. Maintains clinical knowledge and skills to be able to staff entire case on an as-needed basis (i.e. provide coverage for breaks, respond to emergencies, etc.). Works collaboratively each day with the AIC to facilitate appropriate fiscally responsible assignments for the next day’s schedule. Follows up on clinical issues and coordinates with the Department Director and Chair to provide feedback to staff involved. Works collaboratively with the Department Director and Chair to respond to growth in volume. Works together with Department Director to replace open positions. Facilitates interviews of candidates, and coordinates hiring and credentialing with the Department Director and Chair. Counsel, develop and evaluate the performance of CRNA and anesthesia tech staff. Uses positive feedback, crucial conversations, performance plans, or corrective action process. Works with Department Director on employee performance successes and issues. Evaluates and completes annual performance reviews. Drives financial components of department operations including budget creation, monitoring, analyzing, report variances in areas of responsibility. Responsible for achieving established targets. Works collaboratively with the Anesthesiology Department Director and Department Chair to identify equipment needs and replacement of equipment. Advocate for team, fair, visible, approachable, organized, strong interpersonal skills, collaborates and strong problem solving skills. Works collaboratively with Lead roles at other sites to facilitate movement and sharing of CRNA resources and information. Ability to delegate to other CRNA’s to engage staff

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

  • CRNA certification, ACLS, PALS, RN License Requires a Master's Degree from an accredited School of Nurse Anesthesia.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to problem solve and multi-task

  • Analytical skills necessary to collect, tabulate, and analyze data to determine and implement effective action and solutions

  • Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities on a daily basis. Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the policies, procedures and practices as necessary for providing quality patient care, service delivery, and maintaining sound business operations.

  • Demonstrates leadership ability, communications, and interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with physicians, management, staff, external agencies/customers and patients/families
