Our development program is a two-year journey to give you the time and space to get to know us and grow as yourself. Your personal development is at the heart of it all.

Your assignments:

As a Philips Graduate Development Program UX Design Trainee, you will work on 2 different assignments of 12 months each. For this rotation, you will be located in our Amsterdam HQ Office. This way you will be able to gain exposure across different Design departments.

As a User Experience Designer Trainee, you will have the opportunity to shape how our software and digital services that will improve the care and wellbeing of million of people across the globe through working on a state-of-the-art Design System. You will be able to build your career in a domain that is going through a massive digital transformation and directly support our purpose to improve the access to care of billion people. You will have the opportunity to define user experience for: translating business requirements and user needs into frameworks, guidelines, toolkits and common assets for software that delights our consumer and professional end users.

During this 2 year program you will have the opportunity to learn and support :

  • Putting the user experience first, all the time every time, through early-on experience prototypes and design statements you develop deep understanding on people behavior, business context, and industry domain.

  • Excel in your craft of UX/UI design, incl deepen your expertise on related competences, and you continuously level the playing ground for peers in and outside of design.

  • You manage (or want to learn managing) your own work in an agile process and create UX solutions in-line with internal and industry standards (e.g. brand, design system, industry heuristics, a11y, etc.). You want to become a thought-leader in UX and related practices, and continuously improve our way of working and knowledge on UX, UI, Agile and other important topics.

  • Actively partner with stakeholders across the enterprise as strong, customer experience and solutions-oriented contributors. To earn Design a “place at the table” the designers must show backbone in dialogues with the stakeholders, drive alignment and commitment, and are able to disagree … and then commit.

As a GDP trainee you will receive 2.5 years, full time employment contract with competitive labor conditions.

You're the right fit if:

  • You have a Bachelor or Master degree in Interaction, Service or Industrial Design.

  • You are passionate about innovation, user interface design and overall user experience

  • You have a strong aesthetic and visual sensitivity

  • Talent in interaction design and visual design as well as for your specific competency, knowledge and capability, incl potentially usability, implementation or health & wellbeing domain expertise

  • Comfortable (or eager to learn) using industry standard tools, such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office tools, Miro, ec.

Recruitment process

If you are interested in joining the Philips Graduate Development Program, please apply online, by uploading your CV and/or motivation letter.

  • Within 2 weeks after your application, you will be informed whether you passed the pre-selection round and if yes you will be invited to perform a gamified test and video interview.

  • You will be informed whether you belong to the best performers and if yes you will be invited for the final assessment center, which will take place around mid-June 2024 . During this event, you will work on several challenging exercises together with similar minded graduates. This is the final step in the selection process. In the same week, we will inform you of the outcome.

  • Start date will be 1st September 2024
