KeyCorp Commercial/Business Banking Collection - Operations Section Manager in Amherst, New York
Location:
4224 Ridge Lea Road - Amherst, New York 14226Qualified candidate must report to the office 2 days per week to the Amherst, NY (Ridge Lee) location, Friday being a must of the 2 days.
Additionally, this role is required to work Saturdays approximately once a month 8:00am - 12:00pm (frequency can increase or decrease based on staffing levels and business need.)While this role is not working evenings at this time, please note qualified candidate must have the ability to work 1 night per week Monday - Thursday from 12:00pm - 9:00pm in case of future business needs.
Job Brief:
This position resides in Default Management and is responsible for leading the Commercial/Business Banking Collection team. The primary goal of the role is to mitigate bank delinquencies and losses by driving strategy and process optimization of Commercial/Business Banking Collection Operations. This position also demands strong partnerships and interaction with Legal, Compliance, Business Risk and Controls, as well as the Line of Business.
Risk to the organization is very high.This position affects Key's internal and external financial reporting, the corporate client experience with respect to loans, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.Essential Job Function:
- Responsible for directing strategy and process execution for the specified Collections team. Overall team size of 10 - 15 full time associates.
- Analyze and devise strategies to mitigate bank losses, improve customer experience, reduce cycle time, and improve operational efficiency.
- Responsible for and/or assisting with hiring diverse professionals; build and lead a high performing team, including mentoring and coaching.
- Accountable for achievement of all productivity, quality, and Service Level goals for all managed functions.
- Implement/Manage Projects or Continuous Improvement Initiatives that tie to Strategic Objectives.
- Responsible for monitoring and tracking of key performance indicators and production activities ensuring root cause analysis and appropriate internal feedback is occurring to leadership and line of business partners.
- Monitor industry trends related to Commercial/Business Banking and Consumer Collections.
- Proactively meet and build relationships with Line of Business, Risk, Compliance and Servicing partners.
- Serve as a role model by consistently demonstrating desired leadership behaviors.
- Coach and develop teams to recognize and take advantage of opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce overhead and/or minimize turnover.
- Communicate KeyCorp, KTOS and LS goals, policies, priorities, and procedures to team members in a clear and positive manner.
- View all activities performed within the team with a clear understanding of possible risk. Actively seek ways to mitigate that risk by putting proper and sustainable controls in place.
- Ensure that all activities are compliant with various laws and regulations governing consumer collection functions.
- Update and/or implement new policies and procedures, ensuring that timely and appropriate training has occurred.
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of prior supervisor/management experience, within a financial services institution or similar.
- Prior experience in collections and/or default processes within a financial institution or supporting operation preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Be able to identify gaps in processes and controls and being able to build proper processes and controls.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $75,000 to $95,000 annually depending on job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
