What You’ll Do

  1. Lead a group of teams to ensure the department is serving its internal and external customers and meeting defined expectations. Ensure the department is accomplishing its mission of identifying problems in the market through interaction and observation and quickly testing innovative solutions that have never-before existed in the market.

  2. Define, develop, and lead strategic engineering activities within the assigned area of responsibility. Develop and maintain engineering processes and technology investigation guidelines for assigned area and product group.

  3. Define the company-wide vision for advanced sensor and control systems technologies that aligns with the organization’s strategic plans. Evaluate product roadmaps for needed advancements in technologies and assure internal skills, processes and investigations are aligned to achieve the vision. Develop and implement a technology roadmap and drive a plan for internal development, partnership or acquisition to ensure product roadmaps can be realized.

  4. Ensure on-time technology investigations that meet or exceed stakeholder expectations. Coordinate with platform teams, product management and other departments required to assure the successful integration of technology findings into the product roadmap.

  5. Provide technical leadership across the company in areas of responsibility and promote a deeper understanding of advanced technologies throughout engineering teams.

  6. Develop and lead lean strategies for improving existing investigation and road mapping processes based on strategic initiatives and target market applications.

  7. Define vision and strategic core competencies for department. Define needed skills training, talent acquisition and organizational structure to align internal staff with needed competencies. Define and implement a outsource plan to augment internal staff with partnerships.

What We’re Looking For

  • Four-year technical degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, Electrical, Industrial or relevant Engineering required.

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of ten years' experience in multiple areas of a manufacturing-based company required, with functional experience and proficiency in the field of electrical and/or systems design; or combination of education and experience, required.

  • Minimum of three years' experience in effectively managing people, processes, and development projects.

  • Knowledge of advanced technology solutions as an integrated part of heavy equipment, including control systems, connected products (IoT), data analytics, technology trends and deployment best practices.

    • Understanding of equipment design and motion control.

    • Knowledge of financial statements, budgeting, and the strategic planning processes; ability to operate within targeted budget.

    • Ability to develop high performing, competitive technology solutions that are financially successful for the Company.

    • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize projects and schedules to meet customer expectations and provide on time delivery of new products and enhancements.

    • Ability to meet performance measures, including gross margin, market share, sales, and reliability and customer goals.

Travel

  • Occasional travel is expected of this position.

Work Location

HYBRID: Some of a team member’s day-to-day work may be best done at a location other than a Vermeer campus. Discuss specific arrangements with your manager.
