This position operates withing Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), which provides mental health services to University at Albany students. The Staff Psychologist will provide direct clinical services to students in individual, couples, and group contexts, which aim to alleviate mental health concerns and symptoms and support the success of UAlbany students. Duties for the Staff Psychologist will include the delivery of triage, counseling, consultation, and crisis intervention services to students experiencing mental health concerns as well as mental health consultation for faculty, staff, and families with concerns about a student's mental health. The incumbent will provide assessment and psychological testing; screening and brief intervention for alcohol and other drug use; clinical supervision and training; and back-up support for the Middle Earth Peer Assistance Hotline. In addition, the Staff Psychologist will contribute to outreach efforts with the goals of preventing suicide, increasing access to mental health services, and enhancing the mental health and well-being of students.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide triage, counseling, and assessment services to UAlbany students
Provide consultation and crisis intervention to students
Provide consultation and training to faculty, staff, and families with concerns regarding the mental health of UAlbany students
Develop and deliver outreach and suicide prevention programming for students and other key stakeholders
Provide supervision and training for trainees
The incumbent is expected to provide clinical supervision for trainees, including graduate students in practicum positions at CAPS and, if applicable, Doctoral Psychology Interns. Typically, this position will clinically supervise one trainee per year.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral Degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program
New York State license in Psychology. If not currently licensed, must become licensed within 2 years of hire
Experience providing brief therapy
Experience working with college students or emerging adults, preferably in a college counseling setting
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with clients from marginalized populations
Commitment to cultural humility and ongoing development of multicultural competency
Experience working with a broad range of psychological, emotional, and developmental concerns
Experience providing urgent mental health care and crisis intervention
Experience or interest in delivering outreach, suicide prevention, and/or well-being programs
Ability to collaborate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team

Additional Information:
Professional Rank and Salary Range: Senior Counselor, SL4; $75,000.
