FirstEnergy About the Opportunity This is an open position with FirstEnergy Services Co, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00] Responsibilities include: The continuous real time dispatch of the Company-owned generation, jointly owned resources, and all other energy/capacity resources including non-utility generators (NUGs). This includes advising others on the impacts of equipment outage scheduling. Interfacing with the PJM Interconnection on operational and market issues including reporting of real time outages and derates as well as updating market offers in the real time and day ahead markets Coordinating generation operation with the various strategy groups to ensure the optimal operation of the generation fleet. Implementation of demand response programs across all operating companies. Ensuring all facets of actual generation operation and demand response responsibilities are completely and accurately documented for regulatory/compliance/billing and accounting purposes. Working a rotating shift schedule to provide 24/7 continuous operations including availability to work unscheduled shifts due to unforeseen conditions such as the unavailability of regularly scheduled staff and system and weather emergencies. Completing training and PJM Generation System Operator Certification within six months (if not already Certified). Qualifications Include: An Associate Degree in Engineering, Business or related field, or related experience in power plant operation, generation or System Operations is preferred. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Word. Demonstrate a questioning attitude to continue to learn, produce results, and strengthen existing relationships. Model active learning through continuing to develop breadth of knowledge, skills, and perspective Desire to continue to learn and grow, work across FirstEnergy, and deliver results. Ability to develop effective working relationships with employees at all levels of FirstEnergy Corp. Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines. Excellent analytical skills along with superior written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to maintain compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, corporate codes of conduct and maintain a safe environment. Must acquire a working knowledge of the FirstEnergy Generation Management System (EMSGen). Must possess excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment particularly during stressful situations.
