The Alternative Markets Division is currently searching for a Workers Compensation Claim Adjuster/Senior Adjuster. The person hired for the position will work from our Windsor, CT, Cincinnati, OH or Walnut Creek, CA office. If not in one of these locations, remote employment will be considered for qualified candidates.
The job grade will be commensurate with the years of experience and skill level of the candidate hired for the position.
Experience with NY Workers Compensation claims highly desired
Investigates and administers workers compensation claims. Evaluates coverage and compensability. Secures necessary information (i.e., reports, policies, appraisals, releases, statements or other documents) in the investigation of claims.
Works toward the resolution of claims files, attending arbitrations, mediations or trials as necessary.
Establish settlements/reserves within prescribed limits and submits recommendations to supervisor on cases exceeding individual authority.
Ensures that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
Ensures compliance of claims handling practices pursuant to the rules and regulations of all applicable state, legal, statutory and regulatory entities.
Must obtain/maintain state adjusting licenses where required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2+ years handling workers compensation claims.
Experience with New York workers compensation claims is highly preferred.
Experience handling multiple jurisdictions/lines of business desired.
Strong skills in customer service, Microsoft Office, communication, time management, and organization.
Must be open to travel, including occasional overnight and airline travel.
Requires prolonged, sitting and/or standing
May require overnight and airplane travel
May require ability to operate and/or travel in a motor vehicle
Requires frequent use of computer
Requires regular and predictable attendance
Travel Percentage: 0 to 10%
