DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Clerk Typist 2, you will provide support to the Care Management Unit for the Luzerne County Area Agency on Aging and will be responsible for performing a wide-range of clerical duties.  Specific tasks include Xeroxing and faxing consumer referrals to designated service vendors, maintaining a log of all outgoing referrals, and typing and sending welcome letters to new consumers.  You must diligently check the fax machine, at least four times per day, to ensure incoming documents are distributed to the correct recipients in a timely manner.

You will obtain monthly financial reports for consumers who have representative payees, Xerox reports and distribute to assigned care managers, and maintain the file of all original reports.  This position functions as the back up for other clerical support staff in the social services units and operates the secondary switchboard as overflow calls come in to the Area Agency on Aging.  You will relieve the primary switchboard operator as necessary and balance the daily postage usage in the postage machine in the absence of the assigned staff person.  You will also distribute in-coming mail to staff on a rotating basis and create the daily absentee list in the absence of the regularly assigned staff person.  You will have the opportunity to attend seminars, webinars, or workshops that are relative to jobs duties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Six months as a Clerk Typist 1 and educational development to the level of eighth grade;or Completion of a high school business curriculum which included at least one typing course; or Any combination of equivalent experience and training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Schuylkill, Sullivan, or Wyoming counties.  If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
