Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Site Quality Engineer in West Lafayette, Indiana

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Site Quality Engineer position. If you are looking for an opportunity to provide quality assurance support and lead cross-functional teams in pursuit of problem solving in a world class manufacturing facility, then this position is for you!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Lead supplier partner development and qualification.

  2. Identify and measure component failure trends and collaborate with our supplier partners to improve quality.

  3. Partner with suppliers to understand problems and investigate root cause.

  4. Evaluate supplier-provided failure analysis and initiate, monitor, and approve supplier corrective actions.

  5. Provide technical leadership for supplier process improvement

  6. Facilitate process improvements by teaching Root Cause Analysis and World Class Manufacturing concepts.

  7. Perform supplier audits to determine process capability, compliance to SEL requirements, regulatory, ISO 9001, or other ISO standards.

  8. Model, teach, and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

  9. Understand. Create. Simplify.

  10. Other duties as assigned.

​Required Qualifications

B.S. in Engineering or related technical field

6+ years of experience in quality engineering or related field

Demonstrated success in resolution of quality issues in electronic design and manufacturing organizations

ISO 9001 Lead Auditor

Strong facilitation, organization, and communication skills

Experience with quality assurance methods, including RCA, process capability, FMEA, SPC, etc.

Knowledge of applicable industry standards with understanding of probability/reliability concepts

Willing to travel up to 75%

Strong project management and problem-solving skills

Experience using metrology and statistical methods

Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills

Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities

Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Background check results satisfactory to SEL
