National Endowment for the Humanities Senior Program Strategist in Washington, District Of Columbia

Summary NEH is an independent grant-making agency of the government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities. Responsibilities The Senior Program Strategist in the Office of Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives will engage in advancing NEH's mission by developing and implementing strategic initiatives and fostering partnerships that enhance the agency's impact. The Senior Program Strategist will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to align and leverage expertise, ideas, and resources to NEH's programs and priorities, oversee the management of high-profile initiatives, and play a vital role in building lasting partnerships with public, private, and philanthropic organizations. Strategic Initiatives Development and Management: Assist in the design and implementation of NEH's special initiatives. Collaborate with NEH program divisions and internal working groups to align and leverage existing funding opportunities with special initiatives to advance the agency's strategic goals. Oversee program management of special initiatives, providing oversight, guidance, and ensuring projects meet objectives and timelines. Partnerships Management: Identify, develop, and sustain strategic partnerships with public, private, and philanthropic organizations to support and amplify NEH's mission and priorities. Develop and present informed and/or creative recommendations to advance the agency's partnership goals. Support in setting the strategic direction for engaging partners by working across program teams to maximize partnerships to advance the goals of the agency. Advise, consult, and collaborate with agency staff on the development and implementation of partnerships. Engage with stakeholders to create collaborative opportunities that enhance the agency's presence in the humanities and culture sector. Support the creation of NEH partnerships, including memoranda of understanding and other agreements with partner organizations. Communicate and track NEH's special initiatives and partnerships work, working closely with the Office of Communications and program staff to highlight stories and impacts. Program Leadership and Support: Support in building and standardizing internal processes, operations, and tools for NEH to engage in partnerships, supporting the agency's partnership capacity and culture. Assist in producing content and materials related to the agency's partnerships and strategic initiatives, i.e., fact sheets, web content for the agency's website, and internal SharePoint site, etc. Participate in internal and external working groups as relevant. Support the Assistant Chair for Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives in preparing reports and briefing materials. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. At the GS-13 level Qualified candidates must possess: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level or equivalent experience. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, program analysis, and providing recommendations to improve program outcomes; Developing and managing program initiatives aimed at promoting local, national or international partnerships, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and enhancing program effectiveness; Analyzing program performance data to assess the effectiveness of strategies and recommend adjustments to meet changing priorities or improve outcomes; Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including public, private and philanthropic organizations, to foster collaboration and promote organizational initiatives; Preparing reports and briefings for senior leadership, outlining program progress, challenges, and strategic recommendations; and Managing complex projects that require coordination across multiple divisions or organizations, ensuring timelines are met and resources are optimized. The salary range above reflects the Washington DC Locality pay, salary may be adjusted based on the negotiated location upon selection. 8. This position may qualify for membership in the NEH American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) Local 3403.
