Responsibilities As a Paralegal Specialist (FOIA/PA), you will perform the following duties: Ensure proper implementation of department-wide FOIA/PA policies and procedures including internal agency procedures and guidelines based upon new or revised legislation or recommendations from analytical studies. Establish and ensure continuing compliance with certain safeguards which permit an individual to determine which records are collected, maintained, used or disseminated. Execute the standard operating procedures followed by Agency in responding to FOIA/PA requests gained by extensive experience in the FOIA/PA program. Provide expert guidance to FOIA/PA employees in the proper handling of the most complex types of requests received. Ensure implementation of standardized forms, letters, procedures, and training materials for the program areas. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Serve as a paralegal specialist in a FOIA/PA organization; Process and oversee the processing of the most complex and difficult FOIA/PA cases; Prepare cases under litigation for court; and Provide substantive refresher training to other paralegal specialists within the unit.
