CDM Smith Transportation Engineer 3 in Warwick, Rhode Island
The candidate will be responsible for coordination and development of the technical content of projects including driving the technical vision of the end product, ensuring the technical accuracy of the work product, ensuring the right technical skill sets are on the project at the correct time, developing and mentoring technical project staff, and coordinating all aspects of the project with our clients. The Candidate should have a minimum of three years of progressive experience in conducting work in the following areas:
a)Strong knowledge of the MUTCD
b)Design of traffic signals/signal systems through the PS&E submissions
c)Design of pavement marking, striping, and signage plans
d)Safety analysis – crash studies, crash modification factors, mitigation analysis
f)Freeway/interchange capacity analysis
g)Traffic simulation and modeling – Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM
h)Developing project design criteria, alignments, construction plans, construction specifications, and cost estimates
i) Developing construction design plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
j)Writing of technical reports
Transportation Engineer 3
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline. 3 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Strong background with CTDOT and/or MassDOT Municipal roadway/highway design projects
Experience in task management and delivering roadway and traffic signal design projects from initiation through final design
Working knowledge in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads
Ability to present in front of a large group
Strong communication and technical writing skills

Skills and Abilities:
Solid Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Solid knowledge of engineer principles of design. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Basic knowledge of design standards (AASHTO, NACTO, etc.).
