PPD Strategic Solutions Lead (Biopharma/Biotech) - Sr Director/Director level in United States
PPD is seeking a Strategic Solutions Lead (Biotech) to join our team in EMEA!
The Strategic Solutions Lead leads a high-impact strategic proposal development team through building competitive/winning strategies in order to maximize RFI/RFP hit rate resulting in business growth. Leverages all opportunities to achieve targets while enhancing customer relations. Ensures the overall success of the proposal development process from receipt through client decision including bid defense strategy, with direct accountability for deliverables and management of the process. Primarily responsible for therapeutic proposals and programs and RFIs and related deliverables. Is primarily aligned to one therapeutic area and back-ups others in times of high volume.
Identifies, directs and executes winning proposal strategy, allocates proposal development team, and determines the level of proposal deliverable and key selling messages.
Ensures operational strategy and budget align with customer needs and win strategy.
Leads cross functional team through the development delivery of high quality proposal deliverables within prescribed timelines, making the final decision to submit proposal to client.
Establishes efficient and aligned processes across functions.
Manages proposal deliverable to PPD profitability targets.
Manages and oversees escalations process.
Leads the planning and prioritization of competitive intelligence and analysis for winning strategies/proposal development and identifies opportunities for refining the process.
Develops KPI's and proposal strategic plans for assigned area, Partners with Clinical Operations, Commercial Organization and GPD to enhance proposal efficiency management to decrease COS.
Collaborates with operations strategy lead and/or appropriate leadership team to monitor margin performance and ability to execute to plan and makes appropriate recommendations.
The following skills are required to be successful in the role:
Significant knowledge and relationships with large biopharma accounts
A combination of operational and commercial experience in both biopharmaceutical and CRO industries
Experience on the client side assessing CRO capabilities and selecting CROs for clinical trials
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 15 years’) or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Advanced project leadership skills in a matrixed environment; proven c-suite level executive presence and influencing skills to ensure cross-functional execution of client deliverables
In-depth knowledge of company offerings within each of the business units, as well as integrated solutions
Demonstrated in-depth expertise in commercial and budgeting strategy, the proposal development process, and the overall business organization and functional areas
Sophisticated customer relationship management skills and commercial acumen
Ability to work in a high pressure/time-sensitive environment including the ability to handle multiple issues on multiple projects simultaneously
Expert organizational agility, negotiation skills, and demonstrated drive for results
Proven ability to build peer relationships and effective project teams with demonstrated global and cultural awareness
Expertise in motivating, persuading and integrating project teams, as well as solid coaching and mentoring skills
Excellent analytical abilities, oral and written communication skills, expert attention to detail, prioritization and time management proficiencies
Expert understanding of sponsor/CRO business practices and advanced knowledge of operational/financial practices8LI
