The maintenance technician maintains, repairs, installs and modifies spent potliner processing machinery, mobile equipment and general plant buildings and facilities. The technicians assist operating technicians in setting up, operating, inspecting and lubricating equipment. They also establish preventive maintenance schedules on equipment. The job requires mechanical aptitude and knowledge of equipment operations and repair in order to trouleshoot and solve equipment maintenance and performance problems. The technciains perform full range of maintenance activities, including welding, mobile equipment repair and operation, pipefitting, machining, electrical work, and repair and installation of all types of equipment, rollers, conveyors, crushers, kilns, etc. Work is performed in an outdoor environment and the technicians are subject to all types of weather. The work involves moderte to heavy physical effort.
High School diploma or GED is required.
Have a strong mechanical maintenance background, including at least the successful completion of an apprenticeship in an acceptable general industrial mechanical maintenance trade, abiilrty to demonstrate well developed welding skills, and/or a minimum of four (4) years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience.
Ability to work from blueprints and technical manuals.
Successfully complete a series of written and hands-on knowledge and skills tests.
Be team oriented with good communications skills.
Be willing to work weekends, holidays, nights, 12 hour rotating shifts, and overtime.
Ability to meeet the physical demands of medium to heavy industrial work.
