MPE Inc. Human Factors Engineer in United States

The location for this position may be located at our facility in Milwaukee Wisconsin, Raleigh, North Carolina, or our San Diego California location.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Research: Plan project kick-off and design studies, including the writing of the Study Plan and protocol; Coordinate recruitment of study participants; Coordinate factors with study facility; Prepare for and conduct study (moderate and observe); Analyze data and write report, providing purposeful best practice recommendations to clients. (Percentage of Time- 85%)

  • Lead presentations to clients. Project management. Provide the Design Team with expert and meaningful input based on design research and best practices in human factors for product development on a regular basis. (Percentage of Time- 85%)

  • Design oversight during engineering / manufacturing, perform other job-related duties as assigned. (Percentage of Time- 2.5%)

  • Perform task analysis and use error analysis to ensure all risks are identified and mitigated through design. (Percentage of Time- 2.5%)

Experience Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience leading Human Factors/design research efforts

  • At least 2 years of experience developing and running design research/usability testing

  • Comfortable in leading research in medical and related environments

  • Understanding the FDA and Global usability regulatory Standards (IEC 62366-1:2015, ANSI/AAMI HE75, EU MDR), FDA Guidance- Applying Human Factors and Usability Engineering to Medical Devices

  • Strong leadership and presentation skills

  • Administered Formative and Summative testing

  • General knowledge of medical procedures and environments

  • Planning and executing design research from start to finish

  • Ability to produce clearly written reports and manage deliverables

  • Coordinate research with Design and Engineering teams

  • Ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines
