National Credit Union Administration Deputy Director of Supervision in United States

Summary This position is at the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) in the Southern Region. This position serves as a Deputy Director of Supervision. This is an opportunity for current NCUA employees in a permanent competitive position, to serve on a detail or temporary promotion, not to exceed 180 days which may be extended another 180 days without further competition. Those who currently hold a CU-14 or higher grade will be considered for a detail only. Responsibilities The selectee will remain in their current duty station. As a Deputy Director of Supervision, you will support the Director in his/her responsibility for establishing local policy, overseeing program direction, and providing the necessary leadership to achieve organization and strategic goals.The Deputy Director also assists with: Quality control reviews, policy development, development of tools and training, provision of support for state supervisory authorities, and proactive identification and communication of emerging areas of risk; Regulatory compliance (unassisted mergers, secondary capital, troubled credit union officials, regulatory waivers, Prompt Corrective Actions, Bank Secrecy Act); Processing administrative actions (preliminary warning letters, cease and desist orders, removals/prohibitions, conservatorship activities, etc.); Supporting the oversight of specialized credit union operations; and, Supervising the activities and development of the staff. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Specialized experience is the experience that has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To qualify at the CU-14 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the CU/GS-13 level in federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience must include the following activities: 1) presenting recommendations for resolving critical problems for a financial institution in areas such as: record keeping/internal controls; credit risk; transaction risk; strategic risk; weak or inadequate management; and asset liability management/interest rate risk; and 2) identifying emerging concerns to recommend actions for material regulatory or insurance matters and evaluating the best courses of action addressing such matters; and 3) ensuring supervision efforts are initiated and carried out to resolve existing and potential problems; and 4) leading financial institution team exams or leading project teams. Additional Information SALARY: Pay will be set within the advertised pay range to align with the selectee's skills and experience and the requirements of the position in accordance with NCUA's compensation policy. The salary range shown is NCUA's National Pay Rate (NPR) which includes a locality rate of 16.32% for the Rest of the U.S. (RUS) geographical area. Actual salary will be determined upon the location of the selectee and the applicable locality pay, per the NCUA's CU pay table, will be applied. The locality rates, by location, can be found on the NCUA Careers webpage under the Salary Information section. EXCEPTION: If you are a current non-supervisory NCUA employee and are selected for reassignment into a supervisory position, you may receive up to a 10% salary increase, not to exceed the National Pay Rate (NPR) of the pay grade. Management will consider your current salary in relation to the duties and responsibilities of the new position.
