Manager New Business Development

Location: Leighton Buzzard (UK) and remote

The role is to support the New Business Development function through implementation of Business Development and Sales efforts to meet a defined set of revenue and performance goals. Whilst the role will support activity across EMEA, there will be particular focus upon the needs of the UK government and defense market. This includes all aspects of external customer focus, internal bid management and organizational planning working closely with RPS. Reporting to the Director Business Development EMEA, the role also carries functional responsibility for Proposal Management. The Business Development Manager will influence and shape business development activity to support customer requirements and deliver the expectations of RPS.

Main Duties:

  • Increase market share in UK and maximize new business development opportunities supporting UK Military and Government

  • Provide both strategic and tactical input on the planning and execution of the annual BD & Marketing plan

  • Generate marketing activity using company communication tools to ensure the sales pipeline has sufficient opportunities to ensure that RPS achieves its financial goals

  • New business strategy, planning and execution of new business bids either representing RPS

  • Act as Capture Lead where appropriate to complete proposals to meet the client needs, develop the pricing strategy, methodology and negotiate with customers

  • Develop and conduct presentations and discussions with prospective customers at senior technical and managerial levels

  • Participate in industry seminars and discussion groups as a representative of RPS

    Candidate Requirements:


  • Six years relevant experience

  • Passion for business development with proven customer relationship management experience

  • Track record in project management

  • Knowledge of UK military (DSAT) training standards

  • Ability to develop, articulate, and present well-reasoned sales arguments

  • Excellent communication, planning and organizing skills

  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Capacity to “flex” work time in line with the needs of proposal submission timelines

  • Eligible for or Holder of current SC security clearance (Raytheon will sponsor as required)


  • Familiarity with Training and Development industry and processes is a plus


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (e.g. Business Administration)
