(Full-time Summer: May – Aug 2019)

STIHL Inc. has an opening for an Industrial Engineering Intern! As a part of our Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to assist our Industrial Engineering department with various projects to improve uptime and efficiency. The focus of this internship will be productivity improvements. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week internship with the projected work hours to be 8:30am - 5:00pm, M – F.

NOTE: This internship focuses primarily on candidates who are relatively local to the Hampton Roads area as there are no relocation expenses, housing or transportation provided.

Internship Project Outline:

  • Review and use production process efficiency numbers

  • Compare standard vs. actual production rate

  • Implement data results into SAP

  • Additional projects in lean manufacturing

  • Upon complete of Internship, document the initial and final conditions by preparing a 1-2 slide PowerPoint presentation for each project, documenting each improvement

Requirements:

  • Current student working towards a degree in Industrial Engineering or other technical disciplines such as Science, Technology, etc.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required, higher preferred (on 4.0 scale).

  • Must be in junior or senior year of degree program, Senior preferred.

  • Must be self-motivated, disciplined and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency with MS Office programs is required.
