Title: FIXED ASSET MANAGER Location: United States-Virginia-Virginia Beach Job Number: 240000ZQ Job Summary: Manages NEXCOM s Worldwide Fixed Asset Accounting Program. Duties and Responsibilities: - Determines proper accounting treatment, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP), for equipment and expense purchases. - Ensures all NEXCOM Fixed Asset and Minor Equipment transactions are posted accurately and timely in Lawson's Fixed Asset Module in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP). - Devises and implements processes which enhance Fixed Asset and minor equipment processing, recording and/or reporting to ensure and support effective and efficient operations. - Reconciles disbursements for Fixed Asset and Minor Equipment Purchases to ensure the accuracy of the posting and ensure the disbursement is recorded in the proper locations Fixed Asset or Minor Equipment account. - Ensures disbursements for projects are recorded properly. - Investigates and resolves discrepancies in Fixed Asset, Minor Equipment or Project accounts in a timely manner. - Communicates and clarifies to all applicable NEXCOM associates the correct policies and procedures for processing Fixed Assets, Minor Equipment and Project Purchase Orders, Invoices and supporting documentation in order to maintain the most efficient processing techniques. - Tracks, by schedules, consolidated inventories of Fixed Assets. Processes and posts Fixed Asset inventories to correct location's Sub Ledger accounts as the inventories are put into service. - Ensures the accurate processing and posting for the transferring, adding, disposing, changing of depreciable lives, adjusting cost amounts, etc. of fixed assets. - Tracks and monitors projects ensuring depreciation begins when project is put into service. - Recommends, assists in designing, testing and implementation of improvements, e.g., updates and revisions, to Fixed Asset software. - Maintains accurate asset and accumulated depreciation roll-forward every fiscal month. Ensures sub ledger accumulated depreciation is in sync with General Ledger Accumulated Depreciation Balances. - Approves journal entries affecting Asset, project or minor equipment accounts. - Plans and organizes the proper storage of Fixed Asset paperwork in accordance with NEXCOM directives. - Provides work direction and supervision for a group of associates. Establishes work schedules; assigns and distributes work; counsels associates; prepared and/or approves work performance reviews; approved/disapproves leave; provides training; recommends personnel actions, and performs other supervisory functions. Promotes employee moral and attempts to resolve employee relationship problems. Carries out EEO policies and communicates support of these policies to section associates. Cooperates and participates fully in the development of an EEO Affirmative Action Plan. -Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: EDUCATION: A four year bachelor's degree with an accounting major or bachelor's degree supplemented with at least 24 hours in accounting or auditing. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 3 years of responsible experience in accounting or auditing or successful experience in positions with a variety of highly responsible accounting functions, supplemented with 24 semester hours of accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 4 years of progressively responsible experience which provided a broad knowledge of the principles, theories, techniques and methods of accounting and auditing; the ability to conduct audits and analyses of operational areas; and preparing reports and results of audit; or similar work which demonstrated the knowledge and abilities required of the position.
