Primary Responsibilities Become familiar with all equipment & gear necessary for the safe and efficient operations of Jones Stevedoring. Establish and maintain a consistent, fully documented Maintenance & Repair program for all equipment company-wide. Direct the Maintenance & Repair activities of ILWU & IAM union mechanics per the Maintenance & Repair Program, in coordination with local managers, at multiple locations in WA and OR. Maintain and communicate an accurate, up-to-date inventory of all company gear and equipment including service status, location, specifications, etc. Schedule the relocation of equipment between facilities in response to the needs of the Operations Department. Assist in the administration of an equipment rental program when necessary. Develop and maintain standard reports and documents to track and execute on responsibilities. Travel between various locations regularly to maintain relationships and monitor performance against established goals and objectives. Monitor, control and report on expenses within the scope of the position. Assist in the acquisition and disposition of gear and heavy equipment as dictated by the Executive Management Team. Skills & Experience The ideal candidate will have experience in many of the following areas: Hands on heavy equipment repair and maintenance Mechanic shop supervision Logistics of heavy equipment Rigging and lifting Microsoft Excel & Word (or similar) proficiency Previous union labor management experience (preferred) Other Requirements: Offers of employment are contingent on the candidate's ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
