The TELUS Corporate Real Estate (CRE) team is seeking a passionate Technology Strategy Manager who will play a key role in ensuring the ‘Smart Spaces’ program meets objectives by developing a portfolio of property technology products that continually enhance user experience.

The Technology Strategy Manager’s will ensure that all Smart Spaces products support TELUS’ overall corporate strategy and they are successfully integrated into the TELUS network environment.

The successful candidate will deeply understand the technology and real estate domain, knowing all technologies, needs and challenges. They will use this knowledge to craft a vision of how to bring the hardware, software and processes together while working closely with stakeholders across TELUS.

You will work collaboratively with partner groups, Business Analysts and operational leaders to ensure the best possible outcomes using Fair Process and teamwork in a diverse fast paced environment.

Here’s how

  • Uncover and understand internal TELUS Corporate Real Estate needs and translate them into requirements with measurable outcomes

  • Be the technology domain guru; keep on top of trends and know all the deeper technical gotchas

  • Familiarize yourself with all software, hardware and processes associated with space utilization

  • Be data driven

  • Know how to collect data, what data to collect, how to connect it and extract insights

  • Understand, research and follow technical trends in the industry and in general

  • Assess emerging products and measure their potential value or threat to the company and its products, as well as make recommendations on which new technologies to invest in or leverage

  • Assess and address technical risks

  • Serve as a product evangelist and subject matter expert to the technical/developer community

  • Coordinate beta tests

  • Define success criteria for testing and product acceptance

  • Facilitate creation and maintenance of proper product documentation

  • Own the ‘product’ within TELUS and engage with internal stakeholders to ensure requirements are met, and integrated

  • Leads projects and or lab trials on behalf of Corporate Real Estate, using sub-groups of assigned team members, if necessary

Qualifications

Required Education/ Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Technical Diploma or relevant industry experience and professional certification

  • 7 years relevant industry experience preferably in Real Estate or Asset oriented domains

  • Proven experience in the tech industry setting vision, leading teams and going from idea to product

  • Solid knowledge of data systems, data structures and integrations

  • Knowledge of Networking & Wireless equipment and standards a strong plus

  • Experience with User Experience design, software configuration, property technology and space utilization software

  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms

  • Experience in developing initial business cases on behalf of the team, relevant industry body etc. for submission to management for consideration and inclusion in management budget and planning processes

  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal

  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle

  • Demonstrated relationship management, leadership, problem solving, project management, negotiation, communication and analytical skills

  • Systems thinker who uses tools naturally to streamline efforts and can learn new tools easily (experience with Real Estate management software a bonus)

  • Effective interpersonal skills interacting with all levels of the organization

  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations

  • Desire to “roll up your sleeves” to get things done
