Summary: Assists the Department Supervisor manage the efforts of production employees to convert raw materials and assemble component parts into finished goods by performing the following duties. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Supervises smaller ad hoc teams assigned by supervisor to complete specific jobs within allotted time frame Works with supervisor to encourage team work and promote a positive work environment Trains and develops employees on production related activities including but not limited to proper, safe and efficient machine operation, first piece and in-process quality inspection, efficient yielding of raw materials to minimize scrap, reading and interpreting drawings and blue prints and maintaining work areas based on established 5S standards. Performs first piece and in process inspections based on established ISO guidelines. Maintains work areas based on established 5S standards. Cleans equipment and machinery as needed. Resolves problems and related production difficulties in an efficient and timely manner.* Directs production activities to complete jobs using established ISO work instructions, specified machinery and equipment in the allotted time.* Offers assistance and instruction to employees. Reports and documents emergency situations to supervisor immediately. Reports productions problems or discrepancies to supervisor immediately. Oversees production pace to ensure schedules are adhered to. Delegates job duties and ensures employees are completing jobs properly. Applies knowledge of operations to detect unsafe working conditions and unacceptable employee performance and reports such circumstances to supervisor. Yields raw materials to minimize scrap/waste. Makes and utilizes jigs to simplify and streamline processes. Moves product using pallet jack and fork truck. Sets up and monitors machinery, equipment, and work cells. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Supervisory Responsibilities: In the absence of the Production Supervisor carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsabilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; participation in employee performance appraisals; rewarding and disciplining employees; addresing complaints and resolving prblems. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A.) or HS diploma/GED; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
