GDIT has partnered with NASA to consolidate selected Procurement, Finance, Human Resource and Information Technology activities from the ten NASA Centers into a single shared services center. Located at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi, the NASA Shared Services Center’s (NSSC) mission is to provide timely, accurate, high quality, cost-effective, and customer-focused support for selected NASA business and technical services.
GDIT is currently seeking a Software Engineering Manager to support NASA programs at the Stennis Space Center.
This position is 100% remote during COVID-19 restrictions, but will be based on-site when restrictions are lifted.
Description and Duties:
Supervises (20+) experienced IT software development professionals who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments that design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain business solutions.
Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with software developers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems.
Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; and prepares operating instructions.
Ensures software standards are met.
Responsible for leading their team; helping set individual goals, objectives and professional training plans; evaluating team members; and ensuring that their team meets organizational and contractual objectives.
Works with Scrum Master to determine the technical needs of each Scrum team and determines the best skill mix for each Scrum team taking into account customer needs, team development, individual goals and strengths.
Works with IT Department Manager to meet organizational and contractual objectives, deliverables and performance requirements.
Works within the organization to develop, improve or refine IT processes, work instructions, plans and deliverables.
Ensures that their team’s projects, incidents, problems, inquiries, and requested items are assigned to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
Leads the IT Advisory Team consisting of Software Development personnel who meet with NSSC functional personnel to discuss their requirements with a goal of producing high level recommendations, concepts or designs prior to demands or stories being submitted.
Participating in Scrum of Scrums and facilitating Product Owner meetings are other potential areas of responsibility.
Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current IT software application design and development trends. Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Acts as advisor to subordinate(s) to meet objectives, timelines and/or resolve technical problems. Develops, administers and tracks performance requirements.
Assignments are defined in terms of activities and objectives. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
Decisions have an impact on work processes and outcomes.
Erroneous decisions or recommendations or failure to complete assignments normally result in serious delays and considerable expenditure of additional time, human resources and funds.
Interacts frequently with internal personnel and periodically with outside representatives at various levels.
Participates and presents at meetings with internal and external representatives. Interaction typically concerns resolution of technical, process, operational, resource, priority and timeline issues.
Team Administrative Process (PTO approval, Yearly evaluations, etc.)
BA/BS or equivalent and 5+ years of IT management experience (10 years of related experience is highly preferred).
U.S. Citizenship required.
ServiceNow experience highly preferred.
ColdFusion experience is a plus.
