Eaton Corporation Lead Additive Engineer in Southfield, Michigan
Eaton’s Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE) has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Additive Engineer – Post-process and NDT who is passionate about Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) technologies. This position will be based at our Southfield MI facility
Launched in July 2016 within Eaton’s Southfield Innovation Center, the AM CoE has an aggressive plan to commercialize 3D printed products for Aerospace and other applications. Plans are underway to get the facility ready for Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) of these applications. The Lead Additive Engineer – Post-process and NDT will play an integral role in this effort by leading the development and implementation of post-process, Heat Treat, Non-destructive testing techniques and thus, will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of Eaton’s efforts in Additive Manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting application and process development in early stages through scale up and commercialization.
The candidate will report directly to the Leader of AM CoE. He/she will have extensive support network from Corporate Research & Technology, Aerospace Additive Manufacturing Application Development Integrated Product Teams and other business unit teams active in Additive Manufacturing across Eaton.

In this role you will:
Develop and implement post-process and NDT techniques
Lead the install, on-boarding, operation, and maintenance of thermal processing equipment
Develop and deploy documented standards for Additive post-processing and NDT techniques
Act as the subject matter expert for additive post-processing and NDT
Collaborate with global additive teams to align methodologies and techniques
Provide application engineering support to business unit teams
Work with business units to understand business needs, define and lead projects to address these needs
Train teams in both theory and application of post-processing and NDT – as applied to Additive Manufacturing
Leverages, communicates, and organizes cross-departmental teams of engineers for development of new applications, testing, or other related project initiatives, while utilizing Resource Groups and Communities of Practice information sharing structures.
Develop methods and write detailed instructions for post-processing and NDT
Work with external parties (vendors, universities, etc.) to develop and industrialize these techniques.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, or similar from an accredited Institution
2+ years of experience as a Metallurgy, Quality, or Manufacturing Engineer.
Knowledge of various metallurgical, metrology, measurement, and inspection techniques esp. NDE/inspection techniques suitable for 3D printed parts.
Knowledge of special processes such as Heat Treating and Welding as applied to additive manufacturing
Knowledge of quality and certification requirements in regulated manufacturing industries such as aerospace and automotive; AS 9100, FAA, ISO/TS16949 & ISO 9001.
Knowledge of special process certification requirements: NADCAP.
No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Southfield MI will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical or Industrial Engineering from an accredited Institution
Prior Quality experience in Aerospace or Automotive.
Prior work experience in Additive Manufacturing.
Must have excellent communication, planning, negotiation and organizational skills and the ability to independently manage a heavy workload.
Acutely aware of environmental and physical hazards associated with additive manufacturing technologies
