Plans and performs non-routine assignments of substantial variety and increasing complexity, using precedence that are not fully applicable. Able to utilize product and process development practices, in the development of new product, and provides input into the ongoing refinement and enhancement of those practices. Trains and develops other engineers and technicians in use of engineering practices. Utilizes project management methods to complete assignments, plan, direct and coordinate activities of functional area as part of a corporate cross-functional project and provides informal leadership in such settings. Demonstrates independent and out of the box thinking in applying engineering techniques, some of which may be novel or new. Has broad knowledge of various technologies relevant to Swagelok business. Effectively communicates with customers within established parameters.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Self-learner that keeps informed of industry trends, shares the knowledge with others, and applies it as appropriate to current work.
Develops design concepts for product while working independently or with other engineers. Develops designs and specification of products to meet customer expectations as defined in project contracts. Develops designs integrating form, fit, function of components of a product. Utilizes DFA and DFM principals into design recommendations. Assures designed products meet project objectives, are safe and maintain engineering and design practices, meeting the appropriate internal and industry standards. Provides forward thinking insights to the broader organization regarding future opportunities for innovation and improvement.
Assists project manager with project planning for the design and development phases of projects. May be called upon to lead projects.
Extracts and analyzes a variety of engineering data, working with other engineer as required.
Interacts efficiently with other functional departments (materials, manufacturing, assembly) to assure broad success of product design. Provides intellectual leadership based on more strategic and forward thinking insights.
Support assessment and definition phases of product development projects working with Marketing and end users.
Technically develop others including engineers and technicians.
Develop and coordinate the completion of test plans to evaluate products.
Coordinate the creation of documentation to support design requirements.
Provides input into technology and physical asset needs, may work directly with suppliers regarding those needs.
Gains exposure to the budgeting process and may provide inputs and support.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
BS in Engineering plus an advanced degree in a technical or business field preferred.
7 -10 years of experience.
Understands and applies knowledge of organization strategy.
Is the technical expert in chosen field(s) and recognized as a resource to the organization.
Developing area of Industry expertise, sharing that expertise with the broader organization
Expert knowledge of complex engineering principals.
Expert skills in data collection, testing and equipment operation.
Advanced knowledge of current technologies.
Demonstrates the ability to complete major and complex projects.
Manages multiple projects simultaneously.
Advanced problem solving and significant decision making abilities.
Strong oral and written communication.
Strong computer and typical office software skills
Knowledge of statistics and Weibull, able to apply facilitating Data Driven decision making.
Able to interpret and apply digital design (CFD and FEA) outputs.
Working knowledge of Solid Works, DFMEA and stress analysis.

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
May be required to pass pre-employment and annual Vision Acuity tests
