VP Sourcing Apparel

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

  • Takes a leadership role within Apparel Sourcing in the formulation, implementation, and management of sourcing strategies for the key region (i.e., account for 30% or above apparel total sourcing volume) in order to meet the company objectives relating to quality, delivery and cost of sourced products.

  • Owns and manages the relationships with our key business supplier groups ensuring a high degree of trust and integrity. Close collaboration with specialist function heads to contribute significant inputs and support implementation of key initiatives with vendors to achieve highest standards of performance and process efficiency from them.

  • Through strong leadership, maximizes and develops the region’s infrastructure and organization to support long term growth as well as to strive for more efficiency and effectiveness in Apparel Sourcing organization.

  • Oversees budget, personnel, and office operations for the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Owns the relationship with all key business supplier groups based in the region irrespective of factory location and ensure that they are profitable, transparent and committed to the brand, prepared to invest whenever needed in a jointly successful relationship.

  • Creates and maintains a regional supply base capable of meeting the needs of the business and key KPIs in speed, innovation, quality and price, delivering reliability and consistency.

  • Proactively seeks information about emerging countries and supplier opportunities and introduce new countries and suppliers needed to build and maintain industry leading supply base for the region.

  • Provides input into the overall direction of GASA and drive the implementation within major vendors in the region.

  • Takes a leading role in building capacity and capabilities (product and manufacturing) at vendors in the agreed country of origin in line with the needs specified by the sourcing operations team

  • Drives lead time reductions with each supplier T1 and T2 in line with the sourcing objectives for speed to market.

  • Ensures sufficient support to the efforts of the Manufacturing innovations team for improvement on factory efficiency and align cost per minute with targets. Provide inputs and support to the implementation of new manufacturing techniques such as Flexcell, ATA and automation across supply base in the region when needed.

  • Ensures all suppliers meet the company targets of compliance from a people, product, and process perspective through achievement of C and E targets.

  • Takes a leading role to ensure our own operations in the region comply with relevant local laws (general and labour) respecting basic human rights, health and safety of all employees and the environment.

  • Identifies and develops best practices for the responsible region. Work closely with the Apparel Sourcing teams in other regions to apply and reinforce international best practices, standards, and disciplines whenever possible.

  • Sets direction and lead the team in the region to deliver the best standard of performance and strive for continuous improvement for the group.

  • Forms and maintains the appropriate organizational structures for end-to-end process. Identify and develop future talent and ensure appropriate leadership skills are present at every level through effective motivation, coaching, training and development of direct reports and teams in the region.

  • Ensures their team is fully aware of factors (political, economic, and strategies) likely to impact business operations within their responsible countries and crisis plans are available to cover any eventuality.

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree from educational entity focusing on textile engineering, international trade or related field

  • Minimum of 15 years of managerial experience in the Apparel industry

  • 5-8 years people management experience of multiple teams

  • Experience in Apparel Development and/or Production

  • Willingness to frequent travels abroad
