Responsibilities

The Center for Digestive Health at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is recruiting a BC/BE Gastroenterologist - IBD.

The primary practice site for this position will be at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, however, the reach of this position will extend across our entire system within the Puget Sound region. This is an excellent opportunity with a primary focus on caring for patients with inflammatory bowel disease in a collegial, multidisciplinary care environment with superb support staff. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and a strong commitment to patient and team-centered care. An interest in clinical research and teaching is a plus. Individuals with a desire to start an IBD fellowship program are encouraged to apply, as are those with an interest in systems-based healthcare and clinical program design. For the right candidate with IBD expertise, there is also potential for future leadership to grow and build this program throughout the healthcare system.

The Center for Digestive Health is a destination program for the care of patients with digestive health concerns. Over 80 clinicians in gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery provide over 76,000 clinic visits, 55,000 endoscopic procedures and 9,000 surgeries annually across Virginia Mason Franciscan Health locations. The center is founded on providing the best possible clinical outcomes to the patients it serves with additional focus on innovation through research as well as training the next generation of experts and leaders in the field. Infrastructure includes a clinical research and analytics team, in addition to academic support. Several clinical and research fellowships are housed within the center and clinicians are engaged as faculty in training medical and surgical residents.

Qualifications

  • BC/BE in gastroenterology

  • Fellowship trained preferred

  • Ability to obtain a medical professional license in the State of WA.

  • Ability to obtain a DEA with full prescriptive authority needed for specific practice.
