Role Splunk is looking for an individual to join its dynamic finance team, leading an organization with direct influence across Spunk’s fast growing businesses. This highly visible position will lead Marketing finance, partnering with the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to develop and implement growth strategies and leading a team which provides data driven insights that fuel our Go-To-Market organization (GTM).
Reporting to the head of GTM finance, the Finance Director will build and maintain effective planning & reporting processes while driving the truth-seeking analysis critical to effectively shaping Splunk’s growth trajectory during our transition into a cloud-first organization. You will oversee $200M+ in annual marketing expense and be chiefly responsible for developing efficacy measurement and attribution frameworks required to optimize resource allocation and maximize ROI. Additionally, you will prepare presentations for executive staff and work directly with leaders on annual planning and to provide strategic advice.
Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!
You will establish positive relationships with and become a key advisor to GTM leadership, building a unified deal pipeline health, forecasting and growth analytics framework to link key inputs and outputs across our Marketing, Sales and Customer Success organizations
You will roll up your sleeves and develop annual operating plans, quarterly and monthly financial forecasts, and ongoing analysis of actuals versus plan and/or forecast
You will develop and monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variances. Work with team members to enhance global financial and operational performance trends (historical and forecasted) using appropriate metrics
You will engage with Marketing leadership to model investment analyses and support contract negotiations for major expenditures
You will prepare management reporting / dashboards for Executives - analyze results, distill/synthesize business performance indicators, assess business risk and operating performance, and timely communicate risks and opportunities to management
Effectively lead, develop and motivate a team

This role is for doers; be able to get into the details and get the job done while at the same time being able to see the forest for the trees
Knowledge and experience in financial / process / operational / technology reviews, risk assessment required with the ability to construct well-targeted management reports within the context of business/industry operations/practices.
Demonstrated success in developing and applying concepts, practices and procedures of financial planning and analysis. Outstanding forecasting methods and techniques. Advanced analytical and quantitative abilities.
Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Capable of communicating complex financial information in an easy to understand format. Able to interact comfortably with the executive management team.
Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization in an open office setting and a highly collaborative environment with a high growth, start-up mentality.
Superior software and system skills (e.g. Microsoft Excel) a must. SQL, NetSuite, Workday, Salesforce.com experience a plus.
Experience building and leading high performing teams.
Education: Got it!
Bachelors Degree in Finance, Economics or related relevant areas
12+ years of related experience, preferably in a leadership role within a Finance organization
Extraordinary interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
Ability to drive alignment on priorities with senior management
Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, thrive in a fast-paced environment and stay flexible through growth and change
Proven finance leader for a SaaS business and/or in support of Marketing functions within a tech organization
Strong customer service orientation and a desire to help others succeed
