JOB SUMMARY:

Performs general preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, vehicles, equipment, and grounds. Working under moderate supervision assists in monitoring building system operations and performance. Utilizes several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.

  • Maintains all equipment as required per preventive maintenance programs prescribed by manufacturer's specifications.

  • Performs housekeeping functions and maintains the professional appearance of the property, equipment, engineering spaces, and common areas.

  • Maintains an energy management program to ensure measures are taken to operate all systems most efficiently to keep operating costs at a minimum.

  • Inspects building systems, including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing, to ensure equipment operation is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by the client.

  • Assists with troubleshooting and repairing buildings and installed systems, including plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop, and HVAC.

  • Performs assigned day-to-day repairs, emergency, and preventive maintenance—Completes's maintenance and repair records as required.

  • Maintains the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements.

  • Performs welding, carpentry, furniture assembly, and locksmith tasks as needed.

  • Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of two years of related experience and/or trade school training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES:

Universal CFC certification preferred, or working toward CFC certification and/or local or state license in mechanical or HVAC trade. A valid Driver's License may be required.

OTHER SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES:

Uses personal computer and/or PDA for work order system, email, ESS, and training—basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

SAFETY:

Responsible for personal safety and the safety of those who are affected by your work. This includes but is not limited to:

  1. Complete all required and assigned HSE training at a satisfactory level,

  2. Follow all activity policies and procedures, including all HSE-related requirements, at all times

  3. Participate in all HSE-related programs & activities as required, including incident investigations, interviews, auditing, and assessment.

  4. Report any conditions that could result in an accident or injury and/or stop work if required.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Assistant Building Engineer position is $51,900 annually or $24.95 per hour, and the maximum salary for the Assistant Building Engineer position is $75,000 annually or $36.06 per hour. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
