Overview

Material Handler

Pay:

$18 - $21 per hour. Paid weekly. Pay period from Saturday – Sunday.

The material handler is responsible for following single stream recycling procedures while disposing of manufacturing waste from around the facility. The material handler will remove bulk waste by pulling trash totes to designated waste processing areas. The material handler will remove wood crates from designated wood disposal areas and take them to the nearest woodyard for breakdown and recycling.

The material handler must be a competent forklift operator and the ability to push/pull up 100lbs throughout their shift. The material handler will operate utility carts and forklifts throughout their shift to meet the clients’ waste stream goals.

Weekends: Some weekends will be required on a rotational basis.

Requirements :

Equipment Experience:

Forklift Operation – 2 years

Physical Requirements:

Ability to push/pull 100 lbs and lift 50 lbs throughout shift.

Climb, stand, stoop, push, pull, lift for extended periods of time.

Environment:

Work in most weather conditions – field work.

Supervisory: No supervisory responsibility

Work Schedule:

1st Shift: Monday – Friday 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Position Summary Details

This position is in charge of towing and emptying trash and cardboard carts as they fill through the shift.

Essential Functions

  • Operates Industrial Lift and/or Tugger to assist in loading or moving materials for Yardage.

  • Other duties as assigned by management

  • Must learn to bale cardboard, run a trash compactor, and operate a tow tractor in order to keep production running smoothly

Responsibilities

  • Uses computer, reads work order, or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.

  • Loads materials and/or buggies into trailers and/or trucks.

  • Installs strapping or chains to prevent shifting or damage while in transit.

  • Prints necessary labels and manifests.

  • Transports buggies from work sites to designated area.

  • Loads and unloads full or empty buggies.

  • Uses the computer to keep a current list of available buggies.

  • Some duties of this position may be janitorial in nature, such as emptying trash cans, cleaning restrooms, and scrubbing floors

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Must meet all requirements to receive required airport SIDA badge and Customs Seal (if applicable), including ten-year work history if available

Preferred Qualifications

  • Customer Service Experience

  • 1 yr of similar work experience
