ASM Global Conversion Manager - Sanford Center in Sanford Center - Bemidji, Minnesota
Summary
ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an immediate opening for Conversion Manager at The Sanford Center.
The Conversion Manager is a hands-on position responsible for set-up and teardown of equipment for events. The Conversion Manager will direct, and coordinate personnel, subcontractors, and daily activities involved in successful execution of events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure timely setup and teardown of arena, conference rooms, club and suites level, concourse, and other event spaces according to floor plans and event requirements.
Move tables, chairs, and various equipment to designated areas according to diagrams, verbal instructions, and event needs.
Create employee schedules, production schedules, and timelines consistent with client access requests and other venue department needs.
Identify business needs within the set-up department and communicate through various labor agencies to fulfill staffing levels.
Hire, train, supervise, and schedule part-time set up staff.
Complete performance appraisals and make salary recommendations as requested for part-time staff.
Lead and mentor crews promoting urgency, accuracy, and efficiency.
Develop and implement policies and procedures for changeover crews (i.e., SOPs, daily “to do” lists, etc.)
Oversee custodial crews in the absence of the Facility Operations Manager to assure cleanliness of the facility.
Order and maintain proper par levels of supplies and equipment related to setup of events.
Responsible for proper storage of supplies and equipment
Develop and operate a preventative maintenance schedule for ASM Global equipment, as directed.
Assist with general maintenance of equipment as necessary and deemed appropriate.
Supervise set-up staff in a manner consistent with ASM Global Human Resources.
Document all work-related injuries and illnesses.
Assist as needed in all areas of set up.
When able to set room in order to reduce part time labor costs.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor's or associate Degree in business, sports management, hospitality management, or a relevant field is preferred
3-5 years leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in hospitality or a related industry with concentrated operations and maintenance responsibilities preferred
Maintain a valid driver’s license
Skills and Abilities
Familiar with operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and motivate a diverse workforce.
Skilled at interacting effectively with all levels of management and staff, promoters, suppliers, guests, and visitors.
Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise changeover and custodial activities under stringent schedules and produce accurate results in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills
Work independently with limited supervision, exercising judgment and initiative.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of and compliance with state and federal OSHA and ADA requirements
Knowledge of safety practices, including first aid and all applicable safety standards for public facilities
Ability to use standard office equipment and computers using MS Windows, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, scheduling software, and work order systems.
Ability to be certified using forklifts, scissor lifts, and aerial work platforms.
Physical Demands
Lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling items of at least 50 pounds
Climbing stairs or ladders, working from various heights
Ability to walk, climb stairs, and stand for several hours with infrequent breaks.
Bending, stooping, or kneeling occasionally
Vision, hearing, and speech frequently used for communications and speaking, judging distances, reading signs, listening to others in a public forum, noisy atmosphere, and two-way radio.
Working inside and outside the building with exposure to adverse conditions
Some exposure to chemicals used for cleaning.
Hours of Work and Travel Requirements
40-45 hours of work per week on average
Irregular hours including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays as determined by maintenance and event schedules.
Extended hours may be required as determined by maintenance and event schedules.
Out of town or overnight travel is not regularly expected.
