About the role:
This position would support virtually all teams at Cruise. Primary responsibilities would include building test configurations of potential equipment configurations, and testing them under all conditions, both electronic, and physical. Beyond the laboratory, the experiments continue into the real world, as test mules, and then later, into production. Even after production, testing never stops, and there are always new developments. Our equipment never stops evolving. As this is a research and development role, constant troubleshooting is a way-of-life!
Cruise is looking for a Hardware Test Technician to help us keep pace with our exponential growth, and rapid development.
In this position, you will directly collaborate with not just the Compute Team, but the whole of the Hardware Group, as well as reaching teams from Sensors, Software, Firmware, Vehicle Design, and the crew that keeps the whole fleet moving!
If you're interested in helping build and test the supercomputers and support equipment that make a car drive itself, let's chat!

Building the aforementioned equipment, with a high degree of precision, from a bill-of-materials.
Executing flawless, repeatable tests, to generate sound data.
Analyzing data, and making recommendations based on the findings.
Making changes to the install base, in both specification, and in a direct hands-on fashion.
Root-cause analysis of errors, and failures, including generating, testing, and applying the patch, or repair.
Working in a fast-paced, highly dynamic working environment, where no two days are likely to be the same.
You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:
You should have at least two-years of experience in scientific data gathering and analysis, of precisely configured and executed experiments.
You should be well-versed in command-line Linux, including scripting.
A solid functional knowledge of high-performance, server-grade computing hardware is essential.
You must possess strong documentation skills. Everything we do must be recorded, in minute detail, every time.
You absolutely must be the kind of person who has the in-built ability to “figure things out”, in a rapid, orderly, and logical fashion. There is no “handbook” for this industry!
Experience with RADAR, LIDAR, ultrasonic sensors, or cameras.
Experience with similar, or competing products.
Experience with high-speed networking.
