Job Description Summary:
The Meeting & Event Manager is responsible for exemplifying the La Cantera Resort & Spa culture, as well as promoting the resort as both the Destination and Employer of choice. He / She is dedicated to the planning, coordination, and exceptional execution of all conferences and unique events, contracted by the Group and Event Sales Department. This opportunity requires a detailed, organized, and agile individual who is resolution oriented, and is able to multi-task. Excellent inter-personal skills and effective written communication are a must for this position.
Essential Job Functions:
Effectively communicate to all departments, the information necessary for successful execution of each event
Maintain a strong relationship with clients, as well as with the hotel’s Operating departments.
Monitor and manage guest room blocks in accordance with the contract, as well as monitor key deadlines as outlined.
Prepare and distribute accurate Banquet Event Orders, and Event Resumes. Effectively communicate any changes and updates
Accurately forecast and understand group rooms and group food and beverage revenues
Participate in site visits and planning meetings for upcoming events
Suggestively sell menus and experiences that meet the guests needs, and maximize revenues
Maintain a professional appearance, in accordance with the Image Guidelines set forth in the Associate Handbook
Attend appropriate resort and department meetings
Maintain a strong knowledge of hospitality trends, especially those related to food and beverage
Have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests

Experience and Education:
High school diploma required.
College degree preferred.
Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Conference Services Manager for an upscale hotel / resort
Adaptability; maintain performance levels under pressure, and in a fast paced environment
Communication; must have excellent listening skills and effectively convey information and ideas to others in a persuasive and confident manner, through a variety of methods
Resolution Oriented; identify and understand challenges and opportunities, and draw educated conclusions to evaluate every possible solution. Must be able to resolve conflict in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
Professional Demeanor; exhibit behavioral styles that convey confidence and represent The Resort’s values and culture
Relationship Building; develop and sustain relationships with both internal and external guests, built on mutual respect and trust
Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit, and be at least 18 years of age
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays
Must be able to stand on feet throughout the shift, with intermittent periods of walking and stair climbing.
Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 25 lbs at shoulder height
Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs;
Must be able to bend, squat, push and pull frequently;
Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, squeezing, overhead reaching and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently.
