Job Description Summary:

The Meeting & Event Manager is responsible for exemplifying the La Cantera Resort & Spa culture, as well as promoting the resort as both the Destination and Employer of choice. He / She is dedicated to the planning, coordination, and exceptional execution of all conferences and unique events, contracted by the Group and Event Sales Department. This opportunity requires a detailed, organized, and agile individual who is resolution oriented, and is able to multi-task. Excellent inter-personal skills and effective written communication are a must for this position.

Job Description:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Effectively communicate to all departments, the information necessary for successful execution of each event

  • Maintain a strong relationship with clients, as well as with the hotel’s Operating departments.

  • Monitor and manage guest room blocks in accordance with the contract, as well as monitor key deadlines as outlined.

  • Prepare and distribute accurate Banquet Event Orders, and Event Resumes. Effectively communicate any changes and updates

  • Accurately forecast and understand group rooms and group food and beverage revenues

  • Participate in site visits and planning meetings for upcoming events

  • Suggestively sell menus and experiences that meet the guests needs, and maximize revenues

  • Maintain a professional appearance, in accordance with the Image Guidelines set forth in the Associate Handbook

  • Attend appropriate resort and department meetings

  • Maintain a strong knowledge of hospitality trends, especially those related to food and beverage

    Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma required.

  • College degree preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Conference Services Manager for an upscale hotel / resort

  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit, and be at least 18 years of age

    Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays

  • Must be able to stand on feet throughout the shift, with intermittent periods of walking and stair climbing.

  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 25 lbs at shoulder height

  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs;

  • Must be able to bend, squat, push and pull frequently;

  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, squeezing, overhead reaching and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently.
