Our VP of Enterprise Functions is hiring a Chief of Staff to play a key role within the organization to help deliver on the objectives of the VP, the office of the VP and Industry Solutions.

About the role – Chief of Staff

As Chief of Staff, you will bring a proven track record and strong skills in business strategy, business operations, communications, customer and partner engagement, and internal stakeholder management. Of primary importance is that the candidate has strong relationships across Microsoft and can be the bridge between the VP and the rest of the company and is able to connect the VP to the right people internally. This role calls for a balance of leadership and influence skills across the senior leaders within the team and beyond. An ability to anticipate and respond quickly as new opportunities and situations arise is critical.

As a member of the leadership team, the Chief of Staff will serve as a trusted advisor for the VP and will have an important voice at the leadership table, while also being a resource to help support the broader strategic and operational needs of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a best-in-class executive office, supporting the VP’s success and extending impact as a leader across Microsoft, Enterprise Functions and within the team by ensuring:

  • VP’s time is maximized and impactful

  • VP voice is strong, clear, and predictable at events both internally and externally

  • Executive sponsorship connections are strategic and impactful with stakeholders

  • Follow up and other actions are closed

  • Prep is high quality and efficient

  • Serve as a trusted advisor for the VP, and handle special projects and ad hoc incoming requests as they arise

  • Empower the team’s success by creating clarity around priorities and enabling efficiency including ensuring we have:

  • Clear and transparent priorities

  • Predictable, published rhythms and cadences to help the org deliver against its priorities (including managing Employee Engagement, LT meetings, Extended LT meetings, Business Reviews, etc.)

  • Robust internal communications and tools

  • No compliance violations

  • Effective budget management in partnership with Finance

  • Strong relationships within and outside of Enterprise Functions including with HR, CELA, and Finance partners

  • Foster a culture where people feel great about working within the team and Enterprise Functions and where we support inclusion, generate energy, and build community by helping drive D&I priorities, Learning & Development plans, Manager Training, Early-in-Career programs, Onboarding and Hybrid Workplace.

  • Manage a team of high performing business operations professionals

  • Enjoys both a high pace, rapidly changing environment and set of challenges as well as creating order and clarity for the broader team.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, cross-boundary collaboration skills, open and honest feedback, and interaction.

  • Always proactive, forward thinking embraces a growth mindset.

  • Experience with international teams beneficial.

  • Demonstrated skills to influence and impact groups inside and outside of immediate team; ability to rapidly gain/build trust and confidence of internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years professional experience in business management/operations role

  • 5+ years of experience of managing programs within/for large, complex organizations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Proven track record in project and business management

  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive leadership on complex business topics

  • Ability to create effective relationships, influence and collaborate internally and externally at all organizational levels

  • Enjoys working in face paced, sometimes ambiguous environment

  • Excellent judgment, discretion and unflappable under pressure.

  • Excellence and experience in managing OPEX and COGS and all aspects of budget planning

  • Demonstrated capability in verbal and written communication skills for a geographically dispersed audience

Location/Travel: You may be based anywhere in the United States, with a strong preference for the Pacific Northwest. You can expect limited global travel, 0 – 25%, contingent upon Covid-19 restrictions.
