Navistar, Inc. BUM Ops Offline in San Antonio, Texas

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Business Unit Manager, Operations Offline to join our team in San Antonio, TX. This position will support our new $250 million dollar benchmark assembly facility, which will have the flexibility to assemble our Class 6 thru Class 8 products. This position is responsible for managing general assembly including attainment of safety, quality, efficiency and delivery metrics.

  • Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and facilitate daily/weekly/monthly safety meetings and lead/assist in the resolution of safety items

  • Responsible for providing a safe work environment including employee adherence to guidelines and ensuring that safety audits and checks are performed as required

  • Own built-in-quality for all production processes in the department

  • Accountable for the onboarding, training, and mentoring of direct reports

  • Responsible for all management of employees. Must attain key metrics in safety, quality, efficiency, delivery and morale

  • Design and implement continuous improvement processes uses Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Methodologies

  • Develop and adhere to financial budget for areas of accountability

  • Responsible for cultivating a healthy high performance culture through-out the organization, including both management and hourly paid personnel

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least 8 years of product manufacturing experience

  • At least 2 years of management experience


  • Master's degree

  • At least 6 years of manufacturing experience

  • At least 2 years of management experience


  • Doctorate degree

  • At least 4 years of product manufacturing experience

  • At least 2 years of management experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.   • Demonstrated understanding in the compliance of Company Safety and Environmental Policies

  • Demonstrated understanding of the assembly, construction, and production sequences associated with Heavy Truck Manufacturing systems

  • Experience in the development and implementation of strategic business planning

  • Demonstrated knowledge in lean manufacturing and automation in the manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated experience in leading an organization based on achievement of business goals

  • Proven ability to drive cultural changes from the top down, through all organizational levels

  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality and material systems in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization

  • Ability to coach employees at all levels
