Summary This a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service Position. This National Guard position is a Permanent WS-3806-09 SHEET METAL MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0791000 and is part of the MO 139th Airlift Wing. This is a non-bargaining unit position. This position is also advertised on AGR announcement #AF24-143. Responsibilities Planned and scheduled specific work assignments on a daily or project-by-project basis within specified time requirements. Arranged for adequate personnel, materials and equipment to accomplish Aviation sheet metal work. Assigned tasks to be performed. Explained prescribed methods and procedures. Instructed subordinates on new sheet metal shop procedures and provided assistance on problems. Reviewed sheet metal shop work in progress and on completion. Obtained approval from supervisor for changes in standard or prescribed procedures and changes in work operations. Suggested ways or methods to improve operations or reduce costs. Recommended individuals to fill vacancies or for promotion or reassignment. Assisted in the establishment of performance standards and made recommendations for performance appraisals. Counseled with employees on disciplinary issues and recommended disciplinary action. Scheduled leave and approved leave for short periods of time. Attempted to resolve informal complaints and grievances, referring unresolved or more serious issues to supervisor. Explained and implemented such personnel programs as equal opportunity, position management, position description review, and labor relations. Maintained production reports and records. Performed the non-supervisory functions of the organizational segment supervised. Implemented safety regulatory requirements. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Selected candidate will be required to be in a compatible military assignment prior to effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be AFSC qualified within 12 months from date of appointment. Maximum Military Grade - MSgt (E-7) Minimum Military Grade - TSgt (E-6) Enlisted - AFSC 2A7XX GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates your ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. WS-09 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 36 months of specialized experience that demonstrates your ability to supervise workers performing duties in sheet metal shop processes; make decisions and take proper alternatives when dealing with others; prepare written communications, oral presentations and/or briefings; and select proper materials, substitute materials, distinguishing graduations of material according to quality, trade standards, specific needs, etc. The specialized experience must also demonstrate ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments, develop plans and organize work for a group of employees; establish and maintain effective working relationships with people having different interests; supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes; and adapt existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Must currently hold or have held AFSC 2A7XX. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
