Methodist Hospital is home to a 158 acute-care bed facility with 1,120 employees, 283 medical staff, and 29 Emergency Department beds. Methodist Hospital also owns and operates Bruceville Terrace – a 171-bed, sub-acute skilled nursing long-term care facility adjacent to the hospital that provides care for the elderly, as well as those requiring extended recoveries. Methodist Hospital is home to the Family Medicine Residency Program, an accredited and nationally recognized program which provides resident physicians with specialty training in primary care family medicine. Together, the hospital and residency program implemented a ground-breaking curriculum addressing the identification, treatment, and assistance of human trafficking victims and created a one-of-a-kind health clinic for victims, the Human Trafficking Medical Home.
The incumbent is responsible for transporting patients between departments within the medical center, discharge to home and other operational duties as assigned. Demonstrates competency in safe and efficient transporting for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. May have access to or be required to distribute drugs, needles or syringes from storage locations, (such as large stock supplies, automated dispensing units and other carts) to/within patient care areas or treatment carts as defined by hospital policy/procedure.
Six (6) months of related experience that will support necessary skills and ability of job description (health-care field preferred).
Knowledge of alphabetic and numeric filing system, knowledge of proper body mechanics and patient safety.
Ability to lift patients onto gurney and to assist them into and out of a wheelchair; read and comprehend instructions written in English; use courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors, and hospital staff; calm and reassure distressed patients; perform basic clerical functions; maintain patient confidentiality; follow established protocols; work effectively under multiple priorities and adjust priorities, as circumstances require; maintain a high degree of accuracy regarding all details.
Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support).
