Scope of Job
• Work with your research supervisor for this award.
• Submit a completed research proposal, Thesis Committee Form and a signed degree plan before the end of the first semester.
• Submit a research progress report before the end of the second semester and every semester thereafter.
• Attend the mandatory PRF Orientation and other professional development events announced by the college.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
As an awardee of this prestigious honor, you are expected to meet the following requirements to be eligible for this Presidential Research Fellowship Award:
• Comply with all UTRGV Assistantship requirements.
• Register for required coursework as soon as possible to ensure your scholarship is processed in a timely manner.
• Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.30 at all times.
• F1 visa holders are required to pay the mandatory health insurance. That fee is not covered by the PRF scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum PRF standards include a competitive GPA (better than 3.33/4.00), excellent GRE scores (combined score ≥ 305) if available, and/or evidence of research activity in the form of paper co-authorship, research presentations, research internship, or any other evidence demonstrating that the student will have a high rate of success conducting research under the supervision of their faculty.
